This Standard is a sectional specification associated with the generic specification,
JIS C 5101-1 and specifies fixed capacitors of ceramic dielectric for use in electronic
equipment, Class 2. This Standard is applicable to fixed capacitors (hereafter referred
to as "capacitors") of ceramic dielectric with a defined temperature coefficient (dielec-
tric Class 2), intended for use in electronic equipment, including leadless capacitors
but excluding fixed surface mount multilayer capacitors of ceramic dielectric.
Capacitors for electromagnetic interference suppression are not included, but are
covered by JIS C 5101-14.
NOTE 1 This Standard specifies the characteristics of capacitors; however, speci-
fications concerning characteristics thereof essentially show the targeted
values of design, therefore it is not intended to perform conformity as-
sessment.
NOTE 2 The leadless capacitors means capacitors of such shape as "round, with-
out enclosure, without" lead termination and opposed electrodes" or
"round metallic case, lug termination one end earthed and with mounting structure"and the like. However, "cylindrical chip" is excluded.
NOTE 3 The International Standard corresponding to this Standard is as follows.
IEC 60384-9 : 2005 Fixed capacitors for use in electronic equipment--
Part 9: Sectional specification: Fixed capacitors of ceramic dielectric,
Class 2 (IDT)
In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in
the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are
IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according
to ISO/IEC Guide 21.
Note 1) For fixed surface mount multilayer capacitors of ceramic dielectric,
Class 2, JIS C 5101-22 is applicable.
